The Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago is embracing new technologies to meet new donors where they are. From dance marathons to gaming to Alexa, Lurie is getting creative with online peer-to-peer fundraising.

Deanna Kerns is a proud alumna of the University of Iowa (Go Hawks!) where she first got involved in leadership and philanthropy through the University of Iowa Dance Marathon. After her time as a Hawkeye, she went to work at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals where she worked with more than 60 dance marathon programs engaging thousands of students and young professionals in philanthropy across the country.
A Chicago native, Deanna has a degree in Journalism and Studio Arts from the University of Iowa and a Master of Nonprofit Leadership from Northeastern University. Today, Deanna works as an associate director at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago on the Children’s Miracle Network team, leading media and peer-to-peer fundraising. She currently resides in Chicago and in her free time enjoys reading and traveling.
